Vision

To deliver cutting edge orthopaedic treatment in a manner that changes the way patients think about specialist medical care. To be available and contactable to patients; to ensure patients do not have to wait days or weeks for an appointment if their condition is urgent, and to assess each patient individually.

Values

Leadership: The boldness to lead the way in Orthopaedic treatment and care.

  Integrity: Be honest and genuine

Collaboration: Avail patients to the collective genius of subspecialised orthopaedic surgeons in a group practice.

Accessibility: Understand patients may need to speak to their Consultant quickly and that need will be accommodated.

Accountability: To recommend a treatment plan only if we can stand by it 100%.

Quality: To provide treatment only if we think we can achieve the best possible result.

Safety: Will not compromise patient safety for the latest (unproven) Orthopaedic fad.

Time: To give patients as much time as needed to assess and discuss their individual medical concerns.

Purpose

Mr Robin is part of the group practice, OASIS, in order to avail his patients to a collaborative pool of genius gained from working alongside fellow Orthopaedic Surgeons covering all areas of sub-specialised orthopaedic surgery.

Promise

To stay abreast of, and deliver, the latest techniques and innovation in lower limb orthopaedics. To be safe, available, accessible and accountable to patients.

Fees & Billing

Mr Robin’s fees are guided by those recommended by the Australian Medical Association (AMA) and your Health Insurance Schedule Fee. This may result in a theatre scheduling fee depending on your insurer and which procedure you require.

Mr Robin recognises financial hardship and in such instances, fees are negotiable, and please feel free to discuss this with Mr Robin or his staff if there is a significant circumstance impacting your situation.

You will be given full informed financial consent that you will need to acknowledge, prior to undergoing any procedures. In general, there are no gaps charged for patients who have claims recognised by the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), WorkCover/WorkSafe or The Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA).

Mr Robin sees uninsured patients and his staff will provide a financial quote for any surgical procedure required, if an uninsured patient should decide to have their treatment in a private hospital. Again, a proportion of this fee will be claimable via Medicare, the rest must be paid by the patient.

Hours

Generally, office hours are between 0900 – 1700hrs, Monday to Friday for non-time critical conditions. In exceptional cases such as fractures or dislocations, Mr Robin will see patients for consultation after hours or on weekends on request. Mr Robin provides all his patients with his private mobile telephone number and is contactable immediately (please use discretion!) when not in theatre.

Trauma Service

Mr Robin is part of a 7-day per week trauma service via OASIS Orthopaedics. We see all manner of “walking wounded” patients (including those who can’t walk due to their injuries!) from GP referrals. Of course, these injuries are given priority bookings due to their acuity and are usually able to be seen within 24 hours of the referral. With radiology on-site and a treatment room with plastering facilities we can certainly assess and initiate management for most closed extremity injuries.

Patients with open fractures or with injuries that may have compromised blood supply or nerve function in the limb are best sent to your local Emergency Department for immediate triage and emergency management.
